I hired JPL Masonry via Thumbtack to repair some brick and mortar on front of my home. They also repaired the shoulders of my chimney that really needed it. Jon from JPL was on time for the estimate (important first impression). We walked the house and went over the job. I received an estimate within a few days. Once hired Jon and his crew showed up to work when they said they would (very important in my book) and worked very hard in some brutal heat and humidity. Once job was done Jon walked the house again with me and told me everything they did and made sure I was good with it. Can’t recommend these guys enough.

John is fantastic to work with -- professional, responsive, and you can trust him. He will tell you if something does not need to be done, and if he tells you it does need to be done, you can be sure it is true. He is fair, his prices are quite reasonable, and one of the best things is that he is not afraid to say, I am not 100% certain, let me call somebody in, do some research, and get back. And for the record, he does not charge for that extra effort to make sure he is 100% certain about the task he is to undertake,

We were referred to John from a family member who was happy with some work JPL did. He did a great job fixing a horrific 17 yo repair from a previous owner that was not done correctly and caused leaking in our basement. He came out when he said he would and did the job as quoted in less time than estimated. He was professional, polite and courteous. I would recommend him to anyone who needed brick work done.

I called up John from JPL masonry told him I want a brick mailbox I told to make a design for me I said whatever you do my wife wants flower pots on it what an amazing job his team did cleaned up the mess and even put dirt and grass seed from digging the slab a job well done the average rating should be 10 I will recommend JPL masonry to anyone!

Jon from JPL replaced an old worn red brick facade wall from the 1970's on the front of our home in Wood Dale. His knowledge of his craft and his workmanship were excellent. He kept us informed regarding every step of this process. It was a pleasure working with him.

Jonathan + his nephew Ronnie just finished tuckpointing on our house + chimney. Jonathan also built stone columns around old wrought iron poles in front of our house. They both did a great job!! The stone columns have drastically changed, improved, + modernized the look of our house. Reasonable price + highly professional job well done!!

Jon put together an aesthetically pleasing wall for the front of our house and put quite a bit of effort into creating a structure that will not lean or crumble. He salvaged existing brick and went to several brick yards to find the best match when we didn't have enough original material. He was a good guy to talk to and was very friendly around my family. JPL offered us fair prices and I have been recommending him to our neighbors.

His level of high level of expertise was evident in both his scoping of the job and in his final product. When I asked for additional repair work, outside of the original scope, Jon was very flexible and was able to fit the other work in after completing the originally scoped work. For me, pride in workmanship is important. Jonathan is a true craftsman with decades of masonry expertise behind him. The pictures show my 10-year attempt to delay the inevitable with my white elastomeric paint repair AND the new chimney, crown, and damper caps that JPL constructed. Our fireplace needed to be relined. When Jon and Ron looked at the project to provide a quote they observed additional items with bricks at the top of the chimney and cracked bricks in the firebox not communicated to me by another contractor. They worked safely and professionally to repair all the issues. At the end of the project, they cleaned up and provided a complete walk-through of the job.

Jonathan picked up the phone himself right away and came over to make an estimate. He charges a market price for the job but does or have any administrative expenses so overall job cost comes to less than the guys who have an 800 number answering service. Fast job scheduling (for the time that has been convenient for us), easy communication: he calls you so you know exactly when he will arrive at your house. No taking extra time on the project, site preparation, and cleanup. Will provide you with the before/after pictures if you ask. No problems, highly recommend it.

Jonathan repaired our brick mailbox. After the repair, it looks as good as new. The quality was very good and the price was very reasonable. Even though the job grew as the repair progressed the price remained the same. I would definitely recommend JPL for any masonry work.

My 2 chimneys are leaking. Had a masonry contractor come out to my house (not JPL) and he immediately wanted to put water sealant on them and quoted $2200.00. Called JPL and Jonathan spent a lot of time looking things over, advised against any water sealant, and said the flashing was the problem, not the chimneys, but he, unfortunately, doesn't do the flashing. Then, I called Spandico Roofing, who also said the chimneys were fine but the flashing needed repair, and quoted $580.00 for both. I am posting this review because JPL Masonry is an honest company, Jonathan knows his stuff, and he saved me over $1600.00. If I ever need masonry work, I will get JPL without hesitation.
